The Young Fables know how important community is for up-and-coming artists: The Nashville music scene has encouraged and invigorated the rising duo, and TYF's Laurel Wright and Wes Lunsford have made friends as they've inserted themselves into Music City's musical community. To celebrate Nashville's lesser-known talents and support their peers, the Young Fables are launching Covering Your Tracks, a video series that will showcase their own versions of other rising stars' tunes.

"Some [of our Covering Your Tracks selections] have even worked their way into our live set," Wright notes, "and we’re thrilled to expose our audiences to music we respect by sharing the work in our own way."

The multi-part series is premiering exclusively on The Boot, and new installments will be posted every other week.

For their first Covering Your Tracks video, the Young Fables selected Lucie Silvas' "Villain." Wright tells The Boot that she and Lunsford were "instantly inspired" the first time they heard the song; "she's quite a songwriter," Wright adds.

Readers can press play on the video above to hear TYP's cover of "Villain;" the song appears on singer-songwriter Silvas' 2015 album Letters to Ghosts. Silvas is relatively new to the Nashville music scene, but in the mid-2000s, she released two albums in Europe, one of which (2004's Breathe In) went platinum in the UK, the Netherlands and Spain; in 2004 and 2005, she charted four Top 40 singles in the UK as well. (Brothers Osborne fans may also know Silvas as John Osborne's wife; the two have been married since June of 2015.)

Winners of the Nashville division of the 2016 NashNext competition, the Young Fables are signed to Hope Tree Entertainment. Wright and Lunsford met when Wright, a former contestant on American Idol, was pursuing a solo career; when her former lead guitarist backed out of a show at the last minute, her drummer connected her with Lunsford.

“From the first moment I heard Wes play, I’ve never wanted another guitarist,” Wright says.

The Boot readers can check back on Nov. 30 for another installment of the Young Fables' Covering Your Track series.
