According to the News Times, Monday's thunderstorm knocked out power to 33 Danbury homes and hundreds more in Newtown, Ridgefield and Bridgewater. Eversource, according to the article, cannot say when all the power will be restored.

I moved to Danbury a little over a month ago, and I had a problem with my power, so we called Eversource. They sent someone right out to look at it, and it got fixed right away. So, for once, I have nothing to complain about.

You learn a lot about yourself when you are without power. The fact is that we so rely on out power for everything, you take it for granted. Then, it goes out. No TV, no phone, no internet, no showers. You just have a mini panic attack inside. We are soft now, sissyfied humans.

What never occurs to anyone is what if the power never came back on? How would we shop, pay bills or really do anything? We have all gone digital, paperless and without power, we have no internet. At this point, that means no infrastructure to do the simplest of tasks. Everything is online now. What would we do? Meditate on that.
