As if the fury of the storm and what it has left in its wake was not enough, the town of Brookfield has come under the attack of scammers. It seems as though whenever there is a disaster there is always someone looking to make a buck off of it.

Even if you were living under a rock last week, that rock most likely got blown away from one of the macrobursts or tornadoes that hit our area so it is clearly no excuse to not know what happened. The Brookfield CT website reports that there have been several residents who were approached by a tree removal service offering clean up at extremely high prices. A door-to-door solicitation must be registered at the town hall and have a permit issued.

If someone comes to your door offering services, ask to see their permit. If they refuse to show it to you, call Brookfield Police at 203-775-2575.
