Hell hath no fury like an angry beaver.

Years ago, my boyfriend (now husband) lived close to a beautiful pond near Hunter Mountain. I'd pass it often on my way to ski, and marvel at the huge piles of wood in the center of the pond. Massive beaver dams, built for protection.

Those beavers are strong, and like any animal in the wild, can be dangerous.

In a story from wfsb.com, two people have been injured after being attacked by a beaver in Connecticut while they were swimming in the Quinebaug River in the eastern part of the state. The river is near the Killingly and Pomfret town line. The pictures in the WFSB article are pretty graphic and show that this was no little nip on the arm.

State environmental officials are trying to locate and capture the beaver in an effort to determine if it has rabies.

I'm sticking to the pool at my condo complex where the biggest threat is some pee.
