United Airlines to End Service at New York’s JFK Airport

United Airlines announced earlier today they'll be ending flight service from New York City's largest airport, JFK.

According to CNBC, this news comes after the airline failed to report a profit from JFK in seven years with very little service. The only routes they offer currently are to Los Angeles and San Francisco.

UAL will move those routes to their major hub across the Hudson River in New Jersey at Newark Liberty Airport. In exchange, Delta will pick up those remaining slots at JFK and United Airlines will pick up Delta's slots at Newark.

United will still continue their service at LaGuardia airport, which is much closer to Greater Danbury and Putnam/Westchester commute wise. The one problem with moving slots to Newark if you're a United customer around here, is the longer commute time to NJ, compared to NYC.
