It looks like the largest cell phone carrier in the country is trying to build another cell tower in Danbury, near the Bethel town border.

According to the News Times, the state was in talks to discuss the building of a cell tower in Bethel, but now it looks like Verizon wants to build one about three miles from that proposed site.

120 foot cell tower at 15 Great Pasture Road in Danbury, just near the Bethel town line, which would help serve both communities. The company says that this tower would improve service in this section of Danbury and Bethel near Rt 53.

Resident's are apparently against the proposed idea of the original plan to build a tower on Codfish Hill Road in Bethel, reported by The News Times. Anti-Cell Tower signs have been posted across the town and neighborhoods, but town officials say this new plan is a better deal.

This same thing happened in my neighborhood a number of years ago, and after the tower was built, things calmed down just fine.  The same people who will complain about the tower will ultimately be the same ones using it on their phones once it's built.
