According to a press release by the Connecticut State Police, Waterbury resident, Claude Williams was arrested and faces numerous charges after an incident in Southbury yesterday morning.

The press release goes on to detail the incident that led to Williams' arrest, and it sounds like this was a horribly terrifying day for a female victim.

Williams allegedly forced the female victim to withdraw money from the Chase Bank located at 775 Main St. South. Bank employees notified the resident trooper and state police, who responded to the bank in time to catch Williams in the parking lot.

Williams attempted to flee, leading police on a 9-mile pursuit, which ultimately ended near the I-84 off-ramp at exit 15.

Williams was taken into custody, and faces a laundry list of charges, including Kidnapping, Reckless Endangerment, Robbery, Larceny, Engaging Police in Pursuit, Reckless Driving, Operating with a Suspended License, and Illegal Posession of Narcotics.

Williams is being held on a quarter-million dollar bond, and is expected to face the judge in Waterbury Superior Court today.
