The start of a new school year can be an anxious time, especially for new college students leaving home for the first time.  Western CT State University devotes this coming week to helping new students adjust to college life with a week full of orientation activities and ceremonies.

This Friday at 1:30 pm, the Midtown campus will hold an "entering the gates" ceremony. New students will be ushered through the campus' main gates by returning students, alumni and faculty. The University's Opening Ceremony will take place immediately afterwards.

Residential students will move into their dorms on Friday. Parents who may be having an equally hard time with this new phase of their children's life will be offered workshops to assist with their transition as well as their kids'.
