What do teenagers like? What do they hate? Why do they act the way they do?

A survey created by the Search Institute is being conducted throughout the country and our region. Their slogan reads as follows, "Search Institute bridges research and practice to help young people be and become their best selves." But what does that mean?

According to an article on the website, newstimes.com, the town of New Milford has asked the Search Institute to conduct a survey that will help determine trends and create programs for their teenagers. The survey looks at 40 behavioral aspects within the teenager along with independent influences to help determine how students personally feel about their community.

Once all the data has been compiled, it's shared with all the agencies that work with New Milford's youth to help them develop programs built around the answers to the survey, but I do have a couple of questions.

The survey is very extensive and filled with personal questions. If you're a teen, how do you feel about your answers being shared with town agencies even though the questions are answered anonymously? What about the parents of the students involved in the survey? Do you think this is a good idea?
