Niagara Falls is a sight to behold. What will happen if they turn off the water?

I've had the pleasure of experiencing Niagara Falls on both the New York and Canadian side and it is mind blowing. But what if they turned it off?

According to buffalonews.com, a meeting will be held tomorrow night to discuss temporarily doing just that on the American-side because a pair of bridges connecting the U.S. mainland to Goat Island need to be replaced. The only way to replace the 115-year-old bridges would be to divert water from the American-side of the waterfall to Canadian-side.

The last time the American-side of the falls was shut off was in 1969. According to GIZMODO.com, it's way easier to do then you'd think.

All I can say is, that home movie from 47 years ago is very cool, but can you imagine the real-time footage we'll be treated to in 2016 if they do turn-off Niagara Falls?
