Icy winter weather has caused slick conditions prompting local school districts to declare delays or cancellations.

According to National Weather Service, Danbury will experience freezing rain and sleet before noon. By then, the sleet will turn into rain with a high of 36 degrees.

Monday morning’s commute may be a little slippery as a wintry mix is predicted to fall over parts of Connecticut and northern Westchester.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory and hazardous weather outlook between 3 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There is a chance of snow and freezing rain after 3 a.m. at a low of 22 degrees. It will switch over to sleet that could be mixed with snow and freezing rain before 7 a.m. Freezing rain and sleet will continue until 1 p.m., which will turn into rain with a high of 37 degrees.
