It's not easy to make a name for yourself in the music business. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication, but Yorktown's Jessica Lynn is taking country by storm.

Country music has long been associated with singers and songwriters who come from places like Nashville, TN., Muskogee, OK., Leesburg, GA., Glen Dale, WV., or Longview, TX. It's extremely rare to ever hear of a country star growing up in the Northeast, no less New York. Well, that's all going to change if Jessica Lynn has any say.

With the release of her new music video, "Not Your Woman", playing to audiences all over the U.S., and a publishing deal in Nashville, things are starting to really happen for the girl from Yorktown.

"All I needed was a chance" she told me recently. "When your from this area, most people assume you can't really be good when it comes to country music, but once they hear what we can do, then they're on board."

She also made a great point about why it's so hard to break in when your from the Northeast. Jessica said, "There's no network of country music like there is in Nashville. Here, you have to create your own success."

Well, from the looks of things, she, along with her family band (her mom and dad, and also her fiance Steve are members) plus Matthew, Bob, The Other Steve, Emily, Dan and Tom, have created a pretty strong following in these parts, and, now, with a little luck, and some more hard work and dedication, can take the rest of the country by storm.

You can catch Jessica Lynn when she brings her full show to the Ridgefield Playhouse on March 18th. Also, watch for her next appearance at Daryl's House in Pawling, and all across the U.S. this summer.
