One person is dead after being struck by two cars in Putnam County. Police need help as they investigate.

On Wednesday at around 6:10 p.m., State Police from Brewster were dispatched by Putnam County 911 for a traffic accident on State Route 6 just east of County Route 121 in the Town of Southeast.

An investigation revealed that 60-year-old Marykay Roller of Southeast was driving west on State Route 6 when she struck a pedestrian who was reported to be in the roadway, police say.

Another vehicle traveling west, operated by a 17-year-old from Danbury, Conn., was unable to take evasive action and also struck the pedestrian.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead by EMSTAR EMS. The name of the deceased isn’t being released at this time.

Following a crash investigation, Roller and the 17-year-old were not issued traffic tickets. At this time, they aren’t suspected of any wrong-doing, officials say.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Brewster at (845) 677-7300. All calls can be kept confidential.

The crash was reconstructed by the New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.

Also on scene were the Putnam County Coroner, EMSTAR, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department and the Brewster Fire Departments.
