Greens Farm Elementary School in Westport will have an open house this evening for grief counseling after a head-on crash on Sunday night claimed the life of one of their students. There will also be an informational session for parents at Long Lots Elementary School auditorium at 7:30 on how to talk to their children about grieving and loss.

Westportnow.com reports that 10-year-old Perrin Delorey, a 4th grader at Greens Farms Elementary School in Westport, passed away from his injuries on Monday. Perrin was in the back seat of a car, driven by his father, James Delorey, travelling east on Route 20 in Sharon. The vehicle reportedly crossed over into the westbound lane and hit another vehicle head-on.

Perrin Delorey was airlifted to Albany Medical Center Hospital. He sustained head and internal injuries and was placed on life support. James Delorey and another passenger in the car, Angela Ryan of Westport, who sustained injuries to her ribs and spine, were also transported to the same medical facility. Both were listed in stable condition.

The driver of the vehicle in the westbound lane, Sherman Day of Mohawk, New York, was airlifted to Albany Medical Center Hospital with head and neck injuries. Authorities said he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
