26-Year-Old Bethel Grad Joins Biden’s White House Team
Danbury native and Bethel High grad Abdullah Hasan has been offered a White House communication job.
Hasan's story begins in India before he was born when his parents emigrated from India to the United States and settled in Danbury, where Hasan was born. He attended Hayestown Elementary School until second grade, when his family moved to Bethel, where he graduated from Bethel High in 2012.
This will be Hasan's second go-round at the White House. He previously worked for President Barack Obama's administration, where he also worked in communications.
He is now the director for communications for the White House Office of Management and Budget. At Bethel High, Hasan was the junior and senior class president and was named the World Language Honors Society head.
His former high school English teacher told CT Insider that "Abdullah was always a standout student." In 2015, Hasan graduated summa cum laude from UConn, where he majored in political science and immediately accepted an internship in the White House budget office where he was then offered the position of press assistant in the budget office. Hasan told CT Insider about working with President Obama,
President Obama reminded me a lot of my grandma: Full of hope, optimism, and, importantly, humility. Like her, he would draw you in, eager to absorb his life lessons and wisdom. Working with President Biden is a dream come true for me.
