His former high school English teacher told CT Insider that "Abdullah was always a standout student." In 2015, Hasan graduated summa cum laude from UConn, where he majored in political science and immediately accepted an internship in the White House budget office where he was then offered the position of press assistant in the budget office. Hasan told CT Insider about working with President Obama,

President Obama reminded me a lot of my grandma: Full of hope, optimism, and, importantly, humility. Like her, he would draw you in, eager to absorb his life lessons and wisdom. Working with President Biden is a dream come true for me.
