3 Hudson Valley Prisoners Found With Drugs & More in Cells

3 men serving jail time in the Hudson Valley were charged after heroin and other illegal items were found in their jail cells.

Ceferino Garcia, 36, Daremus Reynolds, 35, and Frank Pasqua, Jr., 36, currently of the Putnam County Correctional Facility, were charged after authorities conducted a large-scale search of the jail. The search occurred after correction officers developed suspicions that an inmate was smuggling drugs into the jail.

Corrections officers, sheriff’s deputies and investigators, and members of the sheriff’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit were involved in the jail sweep. Teams of drug-sniffing dogs and their police handlers from the Sheriff’s Office, State Police and Kent Police Department participated in the search. Officers from the Putnam County Probation Department also assisted in the operation.

Authorities say they recovered quantities of heroin, suboxone and other contraband in the search. Some of the contraband was found on the inmates themselves, other items were found in their cells.

Officials believe the drugs were brought to the jail by an outsider. Other details are not being released as the case is ongoing. More charges are possible.

Garcia and Reynolds were charged with 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and 1st-degree promoting prison contraband.

Pasqua was charged with 3rd-degree criminal sale of a controlled, 1st-degree promoting prison contraband, and 3rd-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

All three were arraigned in the Town of Southeast Justice Court. Garcia and Reynolds were remanded back to the jail with bail of $10,000. Pasqua was remanded back to jail with bail set at $100,000.
