Everyone loves fireworks. I know that for a fact, because why else would people arrive hours in advance and brave the hours of traffic after just to see a fireworks display?

With that in mind, we've created an interactive map (above) of all the displays this year throughout Connecticut. Did we miss a fireworks show in your town? Let us know by sending an email to joseph.echevarria@townsquaremedia.com and we'll add it to the map.

There's nothing like a good fireworks display. For me, it's always been the 4th of July Spectacular at the Danbury Fair. I have been involved hosting it and broadcasting live there for the last two decades.

So where will you find some of the biggest and best fireworks displays in Western Connecticut? Check out the map and find out.

Here are some interesting Fourth of July facts that you can use to impress your friends and neighbors:

According to rfdtv.com:

  • Only two founding fathers actually signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4th, 1776. A majority of those who signed did it about a month later on August 2nd, 1776.
  • The 4th of July didn't become a Federal Holiday until 1870
  • John Adams wasn't always right. He predicted in his now famous letter to his wife Abigale that July 2nd would be celebrated as America's independence day since the day before, July 1st, congress had voted to sever ties with Great Britain.
  • Don't feel bad the next time you lose your car keys or cell phone. The original draft of the Declaration of Independence was lost.

So have a Happy and Safe Forth of July. Happy Birthday, America.
