Summer is in full effect, the heat is on, and nothing says summertime here in Connecticut like hanging by the shore and sinking your teeth into a meaty, buttery, succulent Lobster Roll — It's just what we do.

I know there are tons of people who would travel up and down the coast of Connecticut in a quest to find the perfect lobster roll, my wife Mary being one of them. Depending on where you live, however, you may not have to venture too far.

I've taken the liberty to try and help you out with five of what many consider to be the best places to get your hands on the Nutmeg State's number one contribution to fine cuisine. So here we go, let the countdown begin!

    Knapp's Landing

    520 Sniffens Lane, Stratford

So to stay on the good foot, I HAVE to have this place on my list. It's my wife's favorite stop for lobster rolls, and she knows a good lobster roll when she tastes one. Knapp's is a no-frills type of place, with their patio dinning area right on the sound.

    Lobster Shack

    7 Indian Neck Ave, Branford

This is a place where the name says it all. Plus, you know it's good if it's a cash-only eatery. The shack is open seasonally — another good sign — and got 4.4 stars on Google Review. They also specialize in grilled claims and chowder.

  • 3

    The Lobster Hut

    826 Bridgeport Ave, Milford

Another place where the name says it all. Actually, this is considered a "Seafood Trailer," and they're serving it up hot. They also specialize in clam strips and hot dogs. 4.5 Google review stars.

    Seven Seas Restaurant

    16 New Haven Ave, Milford

Milford seems to be a hot spot for Lobster Rolls, as this is the second place to make the top five. Of course, as everyone knows, the best seafood is always by the water, and Seven Seas does it up right. New England-style lobster rolls and fried seafood take center stage at this casual lunch and dinner joint.

    Guilford Lobster Pound

3443, 505 Old Whitfield St, Guilford

Topping our list is Guilford Lobster Pound, considered by many to have the best Lobster Rolls on the entire East Coast. 5 out of 5 stars from Google. It may be a drive, but if you're a lobster roll fan, it's definitely worth it. Hours are limited, though. Closed Monday and Tuesday, open 12-5 Wednesday and Thursday, 12-6 Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
