A Guide to St. Patrick’s Day Parades in Connecticut for 2019
Who doesn't love a parade especially on St. Patrick's Day?
It's that time of year to kiss someone's blarney stone, eat a box of Lucky Charms, and rock out with your shamrock out! With a Guinness in one hand and a shillelagh in the other, allow me to turn you on to some of the best St. Patrick's Day parades in all of Connecticut!
Since the mid-1950s, the St. Patrick's Day Parade of Greater New Haven has become one of New England's premier Irish Events. The parade steps off on Sunday, March 10 at 1:30 pm.
New Haven's St. Patrick's Day Parade is the 6th oldest parade in the nation and was recognized by the Library of Congress in 1999. You'll be treated to 3,000 marchers and loads of marching musical entertainment. 300,000 strong will line the streets of New Haven to watch this momentous parade.
On Sunday, March 24 Danbury gets their Irish on when the Danbury St. Patrick's Day Parade steps off at 2 pm in front of St. Peter Church on Main St. You'll be treated to bands, floats, dancers, and marchers.
Danbury's parade will wrap up at the Greater Danbury Irish Cultural Center where the celebration continues with corned beef sandwiches, Irish music and an all-day rousing good time! and as the Irish say:
The 48th Annual Greater Hartford St. Patrick's Day Parade kicks off Saturday, March 9 at 11 am. The parade gets underway on Capitol Ave. by the State Capitol. If you can't make the parade you can watch it live on Channel CW 20.
The 37th Annual Greater Bridgeport St. Patrick's Day Parade kicks off at noon on Friday, March 15 at Harbor Yard. The event schedule begins at 8 am with a Mass at St. Augustine Cathedral followed by a 9:15 am flag raising at City Hall.
The Grand Marshall's Breakfast is scheduled for 10 am in the Grand Ballroom at the Bridgeport Holiday Inn followed by the parade at noon, and then the post parade luncheon and awards ceremony back at the Holiday Inn. For all the information, click on stpatricksdaybridgeport.com.
The Annual Greenwich St. Patrick's Day Parade is scheduled for Sunday, March 24 at 2 pm and will begin at the Town Hall on East Putnam Ave. You can look forward to seeing Irish Wolfhounds, pipe bands and marching bands, along with floats, horses, and clowns. The 2019 Norwalk St. Patrick's Day Parade is scheduled for Saturday, March 9. Kick-off time is 11 am at Norwalk's Veteran's Park and the parade will wrap up at O'Neills Irish Pub and Restaurant at 93 North Main St.
