The Connecticut Rundown on What Will Reopen on May 20
Wednesday, May 20, could turn out to be a phenomenal day for many Connecticut residents.
According to Hearst Connecticut Media, Governor Ned Lamont's 'Phase One Reopening' of CT will roll out on Wednesday, May 20. Personally I'm not ready to go anywhere just yet. I think it's way too soon. The following is a summary of what exactly will be allowed to reopen.
** Outdoor Restaurants - Only restaurants that can provide outdoor dining facilities to its customers will be open with social distancing and safety measures in place. According to an article in the Hartford Courant, Governor Lamont said he would do what it takes to ensure alcohol can be served at outdoor eateries. I'm hoping some restaurants will be offering live acoustic entertainment.
** Hair Salons - According to an article on the WTNH website, hair salons will be open but by appointment only. Both employees and customers must wear masks at all times. Well, doesn't this sound like a blast?! If I have to hear about my wife's hair one more time and how quickly her grey hair is coming in, I'm going to start tearing MY hair out, and I don't have much to begin with!
** Retail - Stores and shops can only operate at 50% of capacity, and customers and employees must wear masks at all times. Dressing rooms and self-serve counters will be closed, and social distancing will be enforced. Most stores are encouraging contactless payment methods. I must say that I used 'Best Buy's curbside pickup, and it was flawless.
** Museums and Zoos - Again, it goes without saying that only outdoor exhibits will be available to the general public. There will be no guided tours, indoor food, or gift shops allowed.
** Offices - Office buildings that were deemed nonessential will now be allowed to open at only 50% capacity. Masks should be worn at all times unless the employee has a private office. Currently, only the four airstaff members are allowed inside the WRKI/WDBY building until May 20.
