If you didn't know this by now, Casey Kasem is not doing well. A judge ordered yesterday that he is in more pain than comfort, and ruled that the removal of his feeding tube is okay. I don't think I need to tell you what happens next, because it's obvious.

That being said, I don't want to dwell on the sudden decline of this great man's health. Instead, I want to honor him for all the things he's done for radio, and for inspiring a little girl listening to the radio on a Sunday morning many, many years ago.

That little girl was me. Casey Kasem had such a distinct voice. One that made him to be loved by so many. He did radio as he would do a conversation: natural, genuine and relaxed. I remember listening to him and feeling as if this guy really cared. And I believed he did.

You see, I do radio because I love people and I do care about people. But I would never put those two passions together if it wasn't for radio legends like Casey Kasem.

So Casey, thank you for doing what you did to radio, and thank you for making so many people feel a little less lonely.

You will forever live in the airwaves.
