Summer baseball has been hot for the New England Collegiate Baseball League, and with the regular season winding down it's time to honor some of the standout players from Danbury to Winnipesaukee. The All-Star Game is scheduled for July 28th and will take place up at the Montpelier Recreation Field in Montpelier, Vermont. The game begins at 5:30, but there will be events going on leading up to the main event including a home-run derby at 3:30. The All-Stars will get to show off their talent in front of MLB scouts from across the country, and of course, put on an exhibition for their adoring fans.

The Danbury Westerners earned a few names on the All-Start roster, here's the list of players and their position for the All-Star Game.

  • Relief Pitcher, Emmet Sheehan
  • Catcher Reserve, Sonny Ulliana
  • 2nd Base Reserve, Alex Baratta
  • 3 Base Reserve, Nick Larusso
  • Starting Short, Alex Bello
  • Designated Hitter, Caleb Upshaw

It's a bit of a hike to get up to Montpelier, but for the dedicated summer baseball fans, it is well worth the trip. Unlike in the major league; the All-Star Game does not mark a halfway point in the season, but instead the beginning of the end of another year. The regular season comes to a close on August 1st, and for some teams on the outside of playoffs looking in (like the Danbury Westerners), it's the final chance to make a jump in the standings.
