Amazon is doing its business in Fairfield County's backyard, and, just like Trumbull's town officials, we should be very happy about it.

The vacant warehouse, formally owned by Read's, was sold to Amazon on January 22 for $7.5 million. It will be used as a distribution center for Amazon's delivery services, covering a 60-mile radius from its location, The Trumbull Times reports.

According to Economic and Community Development Director Rina Bakalar, the warehouse has been out of commission for over 10 years. Now, its re-opening will unfurl a host of delivery driving opportunities and 150 new warehouse jobs.

The Trumbull location is one of a few other centers that have been opened by the company over the past few months, with warehouses also setting up shop in Stratford, Wallingford, Windsor, North Haven, Bristol, Newington, and one near Bradley International Airport.

Amazon's overall expansion in Connecticut is helping the state's economy, especially in the industrial real estate market. Evidently, First Selectman Vicki Tesoro states that the town of Trumbull is "very excited that they're coming," The Trumbull Times reports.

With Trumbull's 60-mile radius covering cities in Westchester and Fairfield County, it's no wonder Amazon chose the affluent town to establish yet another warehouse of theirs. And, of course, Trumbull now being able to brag about the tech-giant being on their list of amenities, in addition to the economic boost, completes this mutual win.
