Anytime you hear a discussion about haunted places in our area, Dudleytown comes up first followed by Harlem Valley Psychiatric in Wingdale, NY.  I've passed by it on the road and it looks creepy from the car, but I've been told walking the grounds and or being inside is a whole different experience.

It was built in 1924 and was originally supposed to be a correctional facility, but after complaints from local residents was turned in to a psychiatric hospital.

It is said to be VERY, VERY haunted.

I mean if you believe in that sort of thing, it makes sense for a place like that to be haunted.

It was open from 1924 to 1994.Think how much mental health facilities have changed in the last 40 years. Think about the things they used to do to these patients before the 1960s. The practices they used to control and "care" for these patients were barbaric.  It makes complete sense that a place like that would be a hot spot for paranormal activity.

I've always wanted to check it out. I don't think it's possible anymore. The property was bought by Olivet Management in 2013 with plans to turn it into retail space.

I've see videos from the inside. I would not want to shop there.
