Army Cadet Prank Goes Wrong, Air Force Falcon Injured

Over the weekend the Army Football Black Nights took on one of their rivals The Air Force Falcons at home at Michie Stadium.

Like most rivals, there is usually some kind of prank involved. However, the prank that Army played on Air Force had a life threatening outcome. The Gazette of Colorado reported on Saturday, November 3rd that a prank pulled by the Army Cadets went horribly wrong.

Air Force's 22-year-old falcon, Aurora, was stolen by some cadets. While the falcon was being kept by the cadets both of her wings were injured in the process. Spokeswoman for the Air Force Academy, Lt. Col Tracy Bunko, said "We have specialists at the academy who have the best training and facilities for her care. She is part of our academy family and we are all hoping for her full and speedy recovery.”

At one point, because of her injuries, it was reported that Aurora would be euthanized.

West Point issued an apology saying "We are taking this situation very seriously, and this occurrence does not reflect the Army or USMA core values of dignity and respect. An apology was given to the U.S. Air Force Academy for this unfortunate incident."

The press release also added that Aurora is doing well stating:

“Aurora returned home last night and as of this morning was able to fly around in her pen. She will see a specialist later today who will determine if x-rays are necessary, but this is an extremely good sign."

Army beat Air Force this weekend 17-14.
