Police say a suspect is in custody in connection with a reported homicide in Bethel, CT.

According to CT Post, an unidentified local woman arrived at her home on Apollo Road Monday to find the unthinkable. Her son was dead.

At first, the woman reportedly thought her son had died by suicide, but once the Bethel Police Department arrived, Captain Stephen Pugner says they quickly determined that his death was in fact a homicide. Then, within a short period of time, police say they were able to identify a suspect, who happened to already be in the custody of the New Milford Police Department for crimes that he had been accused of earlier that same day.

While neither the victim or suspect have been identified as of this writing, Fox 61 reports that 40-year-old Matthew O'Dell was arrested by New Milford police on what's been described as charges related to an attempted auto theft at Young's Hotel on Railroad St, which also took place on Monday night. O'Dell has been reportedly interviewed by Bethel investigators, but has not been charged with anything related to the homicide.

According to Fox 61, property records show that the Apollo Road home at the scene of the homicide is owned by a woman whose neighbors say her two sons are named Matthew and Rick O'Dell.
