This week we're looking for a new forever home for Bleeker, who's been at the Animal Welfare Society for quite some time.

BLEEKER

This week we're trying to get Bleeker his new forever home. He's got kind of a sad backstory, and all he's looking for is a family that he could love, and who would love him back.

Bleeker was originally adopted from the Animal Welfare Society, and he had a great life, but sadly his adopted mom passed away, and at the Animal Welfare Society, if you can't keep your pet, they do accept them back. Bleeker has been there for a while and keeps getting overlooked, but he's such a nice cat.

He loves to play and explore. He does require a special diet, but otherwise he is very healthy. He has quickly adapted to the shelter environment, but still longs for a new forever home. Bleeker qualifies for the AWS Seniors to Seniors Program, where adoption fees are waived for Seniors over 60 who adopt a senior cat.

Now because of the COVID-19 restrictions, if you're interested in adopting one of the featured pets, or any dog or cat at the shelter, first fill out an application on their site at aws-shelter.org. Then, once your application is approved, you can call them at 860-354-1350 and schedule your one-on-one meeting.

The shelter is still looking for some items that they need to help keep the animals safe and clean. Right now they are looking for bleach, paper towels and dry cat food.

If you can contribute, you can drop off the items at the shelter at 8 Dodd Road in New Milford. Just let them know you're going to drop something off, then you can do it with no contact by just leaving it in front of their building.
