Brookfield FD’s Candlewood Company Finally Unveils Marine 25 Rescue Boat

After over a year in the making, the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department's new Marine 25 is now officially in service.

Their boat committee handed over the new 24’ landing-craft style fire/rescue boat to the department's chief to be put in service on Candlewood Lake.

Monday night was the inaugural voyage out on Candlewood Lake. When it's not in service, the boat will be docked at the Candlewood Shores beach during the boating season.

Members of the local volunteer fire department, as well as members from the Brookfield Police Department,  have spent the last few weeks training on the new vessel, becoming familiarized with its operation and equipment.

As we reported in a story a few months ago, the boat was built in Superior Wisconsin by Lake Assault Boats. The Fire Department also reported on their Facebook page that the boat is powered by dual 200 Yamaha motors that are controlled with the Seastar Optimus 360° Joystick control system. This system allows the engines to operate independently to provide fine low-speed controlled movements to the vessel for better maneuverability and precision. This vessel also has side and down scan sonar to assist with underwater searches, plus the bow gate can be lowered below the waterline for easy access to patients or divers.

Brookfield's Candlewood Company has always prided itself on operating the most specialized fire/rescue boat on Candlewood Lake. The new Marine 25 will allow the department to continue to provide excellence in service to the residents and visitors of Candlewood Lake and the surrounding area.
