Cam co-wrote her new single "Diane," and while we're not trying to get all up in her business, we had to ask: "Who are you singing to?"

Talking to Taste of Country News host Ania Hammar, Cam reveals that there was someone specific she had on her mind while writing this song with Jeff Bhasker and Tyler Johnson,. Actually it was a group of people, but it's not what you're thinking.

"For me 'Diane' is some people I knew when I was younger, some parents of friends ... a lot of people are 'Diane,'" she says. "What's great right now is that people are writing in and I do a "Dear Diane" live stream where I kind of talk about it with people and there is so many Dianes."

Infidelity, Cam says, is something that affects a lot of people and she wanted to remove the taboo of being cheated on. The song was inspired by Dolly Parton's "Jolene" and very much intended to be a response to that song. The California-raised singer is moved by the humanity Parton showed in her all-time famous hit song.

"What I wanted to do from the reverse is I wanted it to be just as sympathetic and full of integrity," she explains.

Cam will release "Diane" to radio in December. On Nov. 8 she's set to co-host the CMA Awards red carpet live stream with Taste of Country Nights' Sam Alex. This will be the third straight year ToC live streamed from the red carpet. In past years stars like Garth BrooksScotty McCreeryBrantley GilbertLady AntebellumSam Hunt and more have joined Taste of Country's stream.
