A Carmel man was arrested on a variety of charges, including possession of drugs, following an alleged domestic dispute.

According to the Putnam County Sheriff, On January 31st around 12:30 a.m, police responded to a report of a physical dispute on Fowler Avenue in the Town of Carmel. Upon arrival, a woman at residence reported that her boyfriend, Emile D. Latuheru, 53, choked, punched and pulled the her hair during a dispute.

During the investigation, police determined that Latuheru was in possession of cocaine and marijuana. Latuheru was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, 3rd-degree assault, and 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, all misdemeanors. Latuheru was also given a violation for unlawful possession of marijuana.

Latuheru was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment. If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, he faces up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00 for each charge.
