Cases of Serious Lung Disease in Connecticut May Be Linked to Vaping

Could severe cases of lung disease be attributed to vaping?

Connecticut Department of Public Health is afraid that the five cases of severe lung disease may be caused by vaping according to an article on wfsb.com. The five patients all ended up in the hospital but have since been discharged.

450 cases of severe lung disease in 33 states are currently being investigated and are believed to be tied to e-cigarette use. Department of Public Health Commissioner, Renee D. Coleman Mitchell is urging anyone who has used or is currently using e-cigarette products and is experiencing respiratory problems to seek medical attention promptly.

Out of the 450 cases throughout the country, the patients exhibited symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath, chest pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and fever. Many of those patients needed intensive care. Many vapers have turned to vape products to quit cigarette smoking. The following quote comes from pulmonologist, Dr. Michael Teiger,

While it's safer than tobacco products as far as products of combustion of the lung, apparantely, there is still significant toxicity that we're seeing more and more of.
