As we hear about more and more businesses that are struggling or closing their doors outright, it's nice to share a piece of good news. Two restaurant chains have signed agreements to open up in the Litchfield Crossings shopping center on Route 7 in New Milford.

According to the New Milford Spectrum, Chipotle Mexican Grill will ope opening in late Fall. The restaurant will be custom built in a southern part of the shopping center, near Union Savings Bank.  I've seen than slab every time I go to Homegoods and have always wondered what was going to eventually go there. The Chipotle building will be 2400 square feet and the fast-casual Mexican restaurant has signed a 10-year lease.

In addition, Jersey Mike's will be adding a franchise in the shopping center. The New Jersey based sub shop specializes in fresh-cut cold cuts, which can be customized or made "Mike's Way" with a variety of toppings and their red wine and vinegar/ olive oil combo "The Juice."

Chipotle and Jersey Mike's join Panera Bread as food options in the shopping center. The nearest Chipotle is in the Danbury Fair Mall, and there is a Jersey Mike's on Federal Road in Brookfield. So neither is a particularly new offering to the greater Danbury area, but the convenience of having one right in town will be a nice option for New Milford's residents.

New Milford is also eagerly anticipating a new Sonic drive-in burger restaurant, which was announced over the winter as coming to the Route 7 Travel Plaza on the corner of Route 7 and Still River Drive.
