Thanks to Make-A-Wish, and Macy's Believe Campaign, a 16 year old senior cross country standout at Danbury High School is seeing her dreams become a reality.

Her name is Alexandra Chakar, and the school year started with her getting treatments for leukemia, now thanks to Make-A-Wish, and Macy's Believe Campaign, she just got finished with a special shopping trip to the Danbury Fair, complete with a police escorted limo ride there.

As she arrived, she was greeted by a huge crowd of friends, and members of her cross country track team.

Her father, Chuck Chakar, told wtnh.com about Alexandra's attitude during this very difficult time in her life:

Anytime she’s smiling and she’s happy I think that goes a way toward her beating this disease, and the trip to Australia is something that she’s looking forward to that gives her incentive to fight through the last round of chemo.

The big trip was the second big surprise from Make-A-Wish. They are sending Alexandra to a place she's always wanted to visit, Australia.

A lot of music that I listen to is from Sydney, Australia, and I have really wanted to go there for a long time. I am really thankful that this wish is coming true.

Alexandra has one more wish on her list, and that's to get into the University of Delaware. Seeing how brave and determined she is to beat this disease, it should come as no surprise to anyone that this wish will come true as well.

Alexandra will have her last chemo treatment right after Thanksgiving, then she’ll be ready to celebrate with this fantastic trip.
