After working extensively around the clock this past long weekend with increased traffic safety patrols, the Connecticut State Police have released their enforcement statistics for the 2019 Thanksgiving weekend.

From the start of this round of holiday enforcement, the Connecticut State Police had 6,183 calls for service, assisted 264 motorists, responded to 405 accidents, made 47 DUI arrests, issued 363 citations for speeding, issued 20 citations for seatbelts, and issued 1,192 hazardous moving violations.

Unfortunately, there were two fatalities in Connecticut due to motor vehicle accidents. The one occurred on Thanksgiving night in the town of Plainville, in which 22-year-old Dominic Thomas Hamm of Plainville stuck a tree and succumbed to his injuries on the scene. The other motor vehicle fatality occurred in Norwalk, but neither the identity of the deceased or the circumstances surrounding the crash have been made public as of this writing.
