The U.S.A's first citizen has died of the Coronavirus in the city where it began, Wuhan, China.

The widespread outbreak of the virus mostly in China has prompted the State Department of Public Health to issue a question and answer-style document that has been given to schools across Connecticut according to an article in the Register Citizen in Torrington. The DPH has issued this statement:

Education is vital in our efforts to reduce the spread of this and any illness. Outbreaks involving novel coronaviruses evolve quickly and recommendations from public health officials may change frequently as new information becomes available.

Information made available to all Connecticut schools includes the symptoms of coronavirus which are fever, cough, and shortness of breath. They can present like a common cold or become much more serious causing hospitalization.

The virus spreads by person-to-person interaction although it hasn't been determined how easily it can spread. Once someone has been exposed, it can take from 2 to 14 days before the symptoms appear.
