Connecticut State Police 4th of July Enforcement Stats

Here's hoping you all had an amazing, and safe Independence Day. You'd have to be living under a rock to not know that the state police amp-up their patrols over most of the larger holidays throughout the year. Here's how Connecticut drivers fared over the past few days.

During the enforcement period that began on Wednesday, July 3, at 7:00 PM, the state police say they've been using traditional and non-traditional patrol cars, while running roaming DUI and enforcement patrols.

Troopers are focused on drunken driving violations, aggressive drivers, distracted drivers and speeding. Sobriety checkpoints and targeted DUI patrols have also been in place throughout the state as well.

Connecticut State Troopers issued 800 total citations, 285 of which were speeding violations, 26 were seat belt violations and 12 were for distracted driving. So far, there have been 23 DUI arrests and Troopers have responded to 112 reports of disabled motor vehicles.

In all, the CT State Police have investigated 2,642 calls for service car accidents, 79 of which were motor vehicle accidents. Out of the accidents, there was one that involved serious injuries and thankfully, none resulted in fatalities.
