Get ready to do some tax free shopping in Connecticut. The annual state tax free week is returning soon.

According to ct.gov, tax fee week will run from August 21 - August 27, 2016. This is the week where residents can purchase clothing and footwear free of taxes. The clothing and footwear has to cost less than $100 per item. If you want to read all the rules for the tax free week, just go to ct.gov.

Of course, there are some exemptions to tax free week. Some items that are taxable, regardless of price, for the week are: handbags/purses, ice skates, ski pants, waders, sports helmets, and party costumes, to name a few. For a full list of items that are taxable even if they are sold for less than $100 go to ct.gov.

It's good to know what items will still be taxable ahead of time, so you won't be surprised when you get to the checkout. Start making your list for next week!
