Two woman are about to make history with the Army Rangers. One of those women is from Connecticut.

According to the Connecticut Post, Capt. Kristen Griest, who is from Orange, is one of two females to graduate on Friday from the Ranger headquarters in Fort Benning, Georgia. She and 1st Lt. Shaye Haver, who is from Copperas Cove in Texas, will be the first females to finish the 62-day combat training program.

There are three phases in the Ranger school. Griest and Haver will have completed the first phase, the leadership course, and will receive the black-and-gold Ranger tab. However, they will not become members of the Ranger regiment yet.

The second phase is the mountain phase and takes place in the Appalachians. The third and final phase is the swamp phase and takes place in Florida. The Connecticut Post notes that the swamp phase is known for its extreme physical and mental stress. It includes airborne and amphibious operations.

Good luck to Griest and Haver! And thank you to all those who serve!
