CT and NY Are Apparently Great States for Working Moms

Mothers Day may be over, but as the old saying goes, "Mom's work is never done", so it's nice to see that Connecticut and New York have both been ranked in the Top 10 when it comes to moms within the local workforce.

Did you know that women make up nearly half of the work force in this country, and that more than seventy percent of those women are moms?

The folks at wallethub.com ranked the best states in the country for working moms, and Connecticut came in fifth, while New York came in tenth. The criteria for this study looked at several different factors, including child care, which included day care quality. Child care cost and professional opportunities, which factored in median women's salaries, the ratio of female executives versus male executives, and work life balance, which included length of the woman's work week and their commuting time.

Connecticut scored the best on work life balance and child care, while New York excelled in professional opportunities and also work/life balance.

The entire Northeast performed well in the survey, with Vermont making it to the top —that's right number one — while Massachusetts ranked third, Rhode Island sixth, and Maine and New Jersey came in seventh and eighth respectfully.

The worst states for working women include Nevada, Alabama, Louisiana, and at the very bottom was Idaho.
