The service of these police dogs is incredible. It's always heart wrenching to lose one, even more so in the line of duty.

Any of us who have ever had a pet knows how much a member of the family they are. The passing of our animals can be extremely devastating. The bond between humans and our pets is incredibly strong. The bond between police officers and their canine partners is equally as strong, if not more so.

Such a horrible loss for the department. According to fox61.com,  K9 Thor was released to do his duty by pursuing a kidnapping suspect on Nov. 21. Sadly, as Thor chased the suspect, his handler lost sight of him. The dog was found in a river shivering with icicles on him. Thor was given a blood transfusion, but died from a blood clot.

The only good news to come from this story is that fox61.com says the suspect has been found and arrested.

Fox61.com says a memorial service is scheduled for Thor on Dec. 8 from 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Wethersfield Community Center, 30 Greenfield Street.

Bless you, Thor, for your service and loyalty. May you rest in peace.
