Trained American Red Cross volunteers from all over the state of Connecticut are in full force in the Carolinas helping with disaster relief as of Saturday, according to WFSB TV News. More than 30 people from the Nutmeg state are now on duty in shelters and elsewhere, not only helping to give out food, water, comfort kits, blankets and supplies, but also assisting displaced persons in a multitude of other ways.

There are a couple of things we've heard from the volunteers that they are not able to provide that are desperately needed. The Red Cross says the relief effort needs our help, and not just as far as monetary donations. They are in dire need of blood donations. They say that after disasters like Hurricane Florence, supplies of blood tend to reach dangerously low levels.
