It was Thursday, August 20, when K-9 Officer, Yodel, was patrolling Interstate-91 in Meriden with his human Connecticut State Police partner, when the officer noticed a vehicle that wasn't maintaining a lane.

On go the lights and siren, and they eventually pull the vehicle over. As the state trooper was talking with the driver, out jumps narcotics detective K-9, Yodel, who was being led around the car when the barking began.

According to the CT State Police FB page, Yodel sniffed out a suitcase full of cocaine, and when the officers opened it up, they found 2 kilograms of coke inside, which turns out to be 4.4 pounds. The driver of the vehicle, who was from Texas, was charged with possession of narcotics and with possession of drugs with intent to sell and is being held on a $250,000 bond. Good boy, Yodel!  It's 'National Dog Day!'

On July 8, 2016, Yodel graduated from the State Police Canine Unit's 181 Narcotic Detection Dog Class with his partner, Trooper First Class David Minsenti. These skilled canines are all masters in detecting narcotics including heroin and Fentanyl. The graduation marks the conclusion of an 11-week rigorous training regimen for both K-9's and their handlers.
