The mother of one of her students was seriously ill and pregnant. She was also suffering from the COVID-19 virus and had to be rushed to Stamford Hospital, according to abc7ny.com. Thankfully, Baby Neysel was born healthy after an emergency C-section.

Not only did his mom, Zully, have the virus, but so did his dad, Marvin, and his brother, Junior. Baby Neysel couldn't possibly go home. According to wfsb.com, that's when Luciana Lira received a frantic call from the baby's mom saying she had no one else to turn to. That's when Lira became Connecticut's latest hero when she made the decision to become Baby Neysel's temporary guardian until the entire family has recovered from the virus.
