According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, every single day 115 people die after overdosing on opioids.

Since 1971 the United States has been fighting the longest war in its history: The War on Drugs. Each administration has tried to get a handle on the rampant drug abuse problem but tragically it continues to get worse.

In 2017, Connecticut alone lost 1,038 to drug overdoses. We are now experiencing a public health crisis across the United States. Friends and family members are dying every day due to opioid addiction. How can we help slow this runaway crisis?

Just recently to help educate the general public, Danbury Public Schools along with the Danbury Police Department, Danbury Emergency Services, Stand Together Make A Difference, Housatonic Valley Coalition Against Substance Abuse, MCCA, and RMedia have joined together to produce the following video about opioid addiction. 'Change the Script'

If you watch this video, it will explain what you can do to address the opioid crisis. Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton along with members of the organizations who helped make this video possible are asking you to pitch in to help fight this war that's killing moms and dads, sisters and brothers along with friends and family members. Mayor Boughton made no bones about it:
