Danbury FD: New Fairfield Fire Displaces Two Adults, Four Pets
Local firefighters from both Danbury and New Fairfield battled an attic fire that displaced two adults and their four dogs Saturday night (March 7).
According to the Danbury Fire Department, a report came through at 9:18 PM, alerting them that there was an active fire at 94 Ball Pond Road in New Fairfield.
Due to the fact that the Ball Pond Volunteer Fire Company is within very close proximity to the home, about two miles, the responding units requested that they arrive to the scene with a water tanker.
When Danbury's Engine 25 arrived on scene, a working fire was confirmed in the attic of the home, prompting a response from additional fire units and tankers, as well as Danbury Emergency Medical Services and the Danbury Police Department.
Eversource and the Fire Marshal’s Office were also called in for their initial investigation.
The DFD says that the fire was deemed under control within about 25 minutes, but explained that they encountered some difficulty "getting to some pockets of fire," with forced the firefighters to conduct an "extensive overhaul" of the home in order to douse the blaze.
Unfortunately, because of the damage, two adult residents and their four dogs were displaced. The American Red Cross was called in to assist them.
The Danbury Fire Marshal’s Office is in the investigating the attic fire, the cause of which, as of this writing, is currently undetermined.
Thankfully, there were no injuries reported from the occupants or first responders.
The DFD says the entire scene was cleared right around midnight.
