Here's a twist for ya! Attorney Joseph Saffi's conscience seems to have gotten the better of him and he took himself right to the State Grievance Board, slapping his own wrist.

As reported by Newstimes.com, Saffi has been practicing law for over 40 years, and has never had a complaint filed against him. But last year, he realized that he had not faxed papers that resulted in one of his clients being issued a summons. Saffi was supposed to submit a cancellation of a purchase agreement and when the other attorney did not receive the updated documents, Saffi's client was being held responsible. Saffi said that he changed the date on the fax machine and sent out the paperwork.

About 30 minutes later, Saffi was ovecome by his dishonest actions and owned up to the what he had done. He called the other attorney, filed a grievance against himself and was ready to give up his practice.

Court officials have decided that based on the fact that he reported his error in judgement, a suspension is more in order than a disbarrment.
