The Danbury Police Department is looking to the public for help in identifying a man who they believe used counterfeit money at various retail establishments around the city.

According to a press release from the DPD, officers received multiple complaints between November 4 and November 5 from both the Danbury Fair Mall and the local Walgreens claiming that a customer had come into some stores and purchased items using counterfeit $100 bills. Police say that upon investigation, the counterfeit cash  was found and they noticeably shared matching serial numbers, which of course, isn't supposed to be the case. In fact, that's the point of serial numbers — they're different for a reason.

Anyway, officers checked out the video footage and are now looking to identify the new Danbury social media sensation. The suspect (pictured above) is believed to be either an African-American or Hispanic male with a thin build. He also has a dark mustache and goatee.

Anyone who may be able to identify the suspect or who may have been the victim of a counterfeit exchange is asked to call the Danbury Police Department immediately and ask for Detective Collins. The reference case number is 1800072401, the contact phone number is 203-797-4667 and Detective Collins' email address is t.collins@danbury-ct.gov. Also, if choose to remain anonymous, you can always call the confidential tips line at 203-790-TIPS.
