It's not officially summertime until the Danbury Farmers Market returns, and that's happening this weekend.

If you've taken advantage of the Danbury Farmers' Market in the past, then you know how good and fresh everything is there, it's all Connecticut grown. We're talking fresh local produce, eggs, baked goods, breads, jams, flowers, and so much more.

This year, the Farmers Market takes place on Saturdays from 10 AM until 2 PM on the City Center Green, and will continue every Saturday through October 19th. There's even free parking at the parking garage at 10 Library Place.

Now entering it's 9th season, the Danbury Farmers Market has been growing every year, and this year is no exception. According to danburyfarmersmarket.org, look for food demonstrations and nutrition workshops, live music, plus this year Supplemental Nutrition Assistance caps have been lifted and will be matched at any dollar amount for recipients who use their EBT cards. Special incentives are also available for veterans, seniors, and WIC recipients.

There's even free transportation to the market. Hart Transit is providing free trolley service from certain pick up points around the town. Check out Hart Transit on line for all locations.

Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton will officially open the market for business this Saturday when he rings the opening bell at 10:15 AM.
