First names also change from decade to decade There's a good chance that If you were born in the 70's or 80's, your first name will be very different from some of the first names of people born in the early 2000's.

So do you have one of the most popular first names in Connecticut. Well let's take a look. Based on statistics taken from the database maintained by the United States Social Security Administration here are some first names that topped the list, first let's start with the 70's.

If you were born from 1970 through 1979 there's a good chance your first name is either Michael, Christopher, or Jason if your a guy, or Jennifer, Amy or Melissa if your a lady.

Born from 1980 through 1989, Micheal was still tops for the guys, followed again by Christopher, and then Matthew, and for the ladies Jessica took the top spot  followed by Jennifer, and then Amanda.

In the 90's the parents of boy's seemed to stick to that same formula from the 80's and Micheal, Christopher, and Matthew remained at the top, but on the ladies side Jessica was still the top first name, but two new names placed second and third, Ashley and Emily.

In the 2000's, a new millennium finally brought about some change with the guy's as Jacob took the top spot, followed by Micheal, and then Joshua. For the ladies it was a total change with Emily as the most popular, followed by Madison, and then Emma.

Finally in the 2010's it was a complete name change for the guys as Noah, Liam and Jacob were the top three, and on the ladies side Emma jumped to number one, followed by Sophia, and Olivia.

So maybe you have one of the most popular first names, but remember you are who you are no matter what your called. So what's really in a name, it really all depends on when you were born.
