Door-to-Door Weed Delivery Program Set for New York State

Let me clarify. Before you launch into tears of joy, keep in mind that recreational marijuana laws have not been passed yet in New York State, but in July of 2014, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo enacted the Compassionate Care Act to provide medical marijuana to certified patients who qualify. According to Lohud.com, home delivery is coming to Westchester County.

Patients with serious illnesses that are homebound and unable to pick up their medical marijuana will be able to have it delivered right to their door. Vireo Health of New York will be launching this first-of-a-kind delivery program in New York. The cannabis-based drugs will be transported by Vireo vehicles and will be accompanied by two Vireo employees.

With weed-based products being driven around an eight-county zone, how do you prevent the vehicles from being hi-jacked or run off the road so the bad guys can't get to the cannabis? The delivery vehicles will be tracked by a global positioning system so Vireo will be aware of where their vehicles are at all times. The delivery service is meant to help patients with debilitating diseases like cancer, constant pain, multiple sclerosis, etc. and simply can't pick up their medical marijuana.
